Floetry by JulietKego: A Pilgrim’s Plea

1.
Be careful, these careless
words you and I weave.
They seduce and call
my soul’s forgotten name.
See you not the danger
of hearts that have no shame?
Of these words we let run unfettered,
no filters, no sieve?

2.
Save me; shun me so,
make your heart a stony shutter
Are you afraid too,
of old wiles that trap and beguile?
Voices, caught in plaintive plea;
a soundless mutter
Lips curve, paused
in a faltering foolish smile.

3.
Aye, innocent eyes from across the world
mine meet,
only mine, in muted surrender
seeing the answers they long sought
reflected in twin pools
that in confused wonder do worship

4.
This fiercely bearded face before mine,
child-like-fine;
The whiskers teasing, tickling me into a giggly fit.
I come to render
the heat of a lover’s touch
to the dark spaces long forgotten
Guide our hearts well, fellow pilgrim,
you the shepherd, I, but sheep.
